If there’s one thing I love in this world, it’s brownies — S’mores Brownies, Fudgy Caramel Brownies, Flourless Brownies — you name it. Just when you think all variations have been tried, along come Condensed Milk Brownies. These are super chewy, fudgy, and dense chocolate brownies that use sweetened condensed milk as the primary liquid and sweetener.

Brownie lovers, rejoice — these are easy, reliably delicious, and perfect when you want something chocolatey without fuss.

I first spotted this idea in a Coles recipe magazine and had to try it: condensed milk as the base for both liquid and sweetness is a clever shortcut. The results were better than I expected — these brownies are chewy and dense with a deep chocolate note provided by cocoa and balanced sweetness from the condensed milk and brown sugar.
The method is incredibly straightforward. All you need is a saucepan, a stovetop, and a 9″x13″ baking pan. Melt the butter and condensed milk together, then stir in vanilla and brown sugar. Add the dry ingredients — cocoa, flour and baking powder — fold through some white chocolate chips if you like, and bake. No eggs, no melted chocolate required.

Because sweetened condensed milk is thick, rich and sticky, it provides plenty of body and sweetness, so melted chocolate isn’t necessary here. The brown sugar contributes to the chewiness while the absence of eggs helps keep the brownies dense and fudgy. I prefer them chilled from the fridge when I want an extra chewy, fudge-like texture.

These brownies are forgiving and quick: they come together in minutes on the stove and bake in about half an hour. The finished texture will depend slightly on your oven and how long you bake them. Aim for the edges to be set while the center still has a slight wobble — that yields the fudgiest result.

If you try this recipe, I hope you enjoy it — the flavor and texture are delightful and different from the usual brownie. I’d love to hear how yours turn out, so please leave a comment or share a photo if you can.
