Sparkling Pomegranate Pear Punch Recipe for Parties

With the holidays approaching in November, I wanted to feature a cocktail that feels festive but isn’t overly strong. Many of the drinks I share tend to be booze-forward and bold, which I enjoy, but this season calls for something lighter—perfect for serving to guests before a big holiday meal without having them tipsy before the main course.

This Pomegranate Pear Punch is bright, fizzy and easy to scale for a crowd. It’s also simple to make a non-alcoholic version: substitute sparkling water (or a good-quality ginger ale) for the sparkling wine for an equally festive, alcohol-free punch.

Pomegranate Pear Punch

Prep time: 5 minutes • Serves: 6–10

4 cups (32 ounces) pomegranate juice
2 cups (16 ounces) pear juice
1 bottle dry sparkling wine (or sparkling water/ginger ale for a virgin version)
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 mandarin, thinly sliced
Small handful fresh cranberries, halved if large
1–2 tablespoons pomegranate arils for garnish (optional)

  • In a punch bowl or large glass bowl, combine the pomegranate and pear juices and stir to blend.
  • Slowly pour in the sparkling wine (or sparkling water) and gently stir to combine without losing too much fizz.
  • Add the sliced lemon, mandarin and cranberries to the punch. Serve over ice. If you prefer, add a large block of ice to the punch bowl so the drink chills without diluting quickly.
