Weekly Dinner Menu 7: Anniversary Celebration Meals

Have you ever looked at my photos and wondered, “Why doesn’t she use plain white plates like everyone else?”

These dishes were our wedding china—more like wedding stoneware since we’re not that fancy. This week The Pants and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary, and these plates have been at our table since day one.

Sixteen years is a long time. Like us, the dishes show signs of wear, but they feel special and familiar. I remember the excitement of choosing the pattern and the gratitude I felt when family and friends gifted us pieces. They’ve served through birthdays, anniversaries, and holiday dinners. The kids will always remember them as the dishes they grew up with, and they’ll keep a permanent place in our kitchen.

Do you have special dishes in your family? What’s their story?

Now, let’s talk about the food that looks best on those treasured plates. Here’s this week’s menu of seven easy dinners—simple, flavorful, and family-friendly. Enjoy!

  1. Cube Steak with Gravy – This recipe consistently drives more traffic than any other on The Weary Chef. I’m always surprised since my original photo wasn’t great, but the dish has gone viral on Pinterest for good reason: it’s hearty, comforting, and easy to make. Even the picky eater in my house usually approves when gravy’s involved. Serve it with roasted Brussels sprouts.
  2. Spinach Strawberry Salad – Tart, sweet, and savory, this salad makes a light, refreshing dinner. It pairs nicely with garlic bread or a crusty sourdough loaf for a little extra substance.
  3. Creamy Turkey Spaghetti – Inspired by a recipe I found online, I adapted this to be faster and lighter than the original. The rich, creamy sauce is a nice twist on classic spaghetti and makes a satisfying weeknight meal. Serve with a simple green salad.
  4. One Pot Thai Green Curry – I love one-pot dinners, and this Thai green curry delivers big flavor with minimal cleanup. It’s a great option when you want something fragrant and comforting without fuss.
  5. Chili Lime Fish Tacos with Avocado Lime Rice – I discovered frozen brown rice recently and it’s been a game changer for quick dinners. The convenience makes the avocado-lime rice side ready in minutes, so you can have a fresh, balanced meal on the table fast. These tacos are bright, tangy, and ideal for a weeknight.
  6. French Dip Sandwiches – I always like to include a slow cooker meal, and this french dip is one of my go-tos. Serve with homemade or frozen fries and sugar snap peas for a complete comfort-food dinner.
  7. Mac and Cheese with Rosemary Pork Chops – This easy stovetop mac and cheese from Alton Brown is creamy and quick, a great homemade alternative for those who usually reach for boxed versions. Pair it with simple rosemary pork chops and sliced tomatoes for a hearty family meal.
