Description

These orange maple glazed Brussels sprouts are buttery, zesty, and caramelized—an easy side that pairs with many main dishes.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved lengthwise
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated orange zest
  • 4 tbsp cold unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil and sea salt until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange the sprouts cut side down in a single layer on the prepared sheet. Roast for 15 minutes, or until edges are browned and tender.
  5. While the sprouts roast, make the glaze: combine balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, orange juice, and orange zest in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and whisk in the cold butter until the sauce is glossy and slightly thickened. Set aside.
  6. When the sprouts are done, let them cool about 5 minutes, transfer to a serving bowl, pour the glaze over the top, toss gently, and serve warm.
