Head to the kitchen and make this now — it’s quick, simple, and dangerously good.

This mix is inspired by a classic toffee-crack style snack. The combination of buttery toffee, cinnamon, a hint of vanilla, and a finishing salty cinnamon sugar gives oyster crackers an irresistible flavor and crunch. You can call it whatever you like, but the result is the same: crispy, sweet, slightly salty, and full of cinnamon goodness.

How to Make the Best Snack Mix

This recipe is straightforward and forgiving — the only risk is burning the toffee, so watch the heat. Start with about 5 cups of oyster crackers (roughly a full bag). Spread them on a foil-lined baking sheet so they bake evenly.

In a saucepan combine butter and light brown sugar and bring to a boil while stirring. Let it boil for about 2 minutes to form a toffee sauce, then remove from heat and stir in cinnamon and vanilla. Pour the hot toffee over the crackers and stir gently with a spatula to coat them evenly, then spread the coated crackers back onto the prepared pan.

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes, until the coating is bubbly and glossy. Keep an eye on it so the sugar doesn’t burn.

While the crackers bake, mix together a finishing blend of granulated sugar, cinnamon, and kosher salt. This salty cinnamon sugar gives the mix its signature churro-style flavor.

As soon as the pan comes out of the oven, sprinkle the salty cinnamon sugar evenly over the hot toffee-coated crackers so it adheres as everything cools.

Allow the mix to cool completely, then break it into clusters. The pieces keep well in an airtight container for up to a week, making this a great make-ahead snack for parties or busy days.
