Mixers: Homemade or Store Bought?
Cocktails aren’t for everyone. They can be cloyingly sweet, overly boozy, or diluted. Much of that comes down to the mixer you choose. A bottle of pre-made margarita mix is convenient, but it can’t match the bright, balanced flavor of fresh ingredients.
Making the base from scratch is quick and transforms the cocktail. Fresh lime juice, ripe strawberries, and homemade simple syrup deliver a clean, vibrant profile that a prepackaged mix can’t replicate.
To give this margarita a memorable twist, we add a touch of jalapeño. One small pepper adds a lively heat that pairs beautifully with the sweet strawberries and tangy lime.
These spicy strawberry margaritas are an easy, crowd-pleasing summer drink to bring to your next gathering.

Margaritas in 1, 2, 3!
If you already keep simple syrup on hand, you’re one step ahead. If not, it’s effortless to make: dissolve sugar in hot water, cool, and you have a syrup that stores well in the fridge.
Next, squeeze plenty of limes — for this recipe you’ll need about 8–10 limes for a full cup of juice. Fresh lime juice makes a noticeable difference, giving the drink bright acidity that balances the sweetness.
Finally, combine the tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, strawberries, and a quarter jalapeño in a blender. Blend until smooth, pour over ice, and garnish as you like.

Garnishing with additional strawberries, lime slices, jalapeño rounds, and a salted or sugared rim is optional but recommended.
