The General Mills Boo Berry cereal has returned, and I turned that classic blueberry flavor into these delightfully spooky Boo Berry Donuts.

After returning from a week-long trip to Michigan, I found a package from General Mills on my doorstep containing the entire Monster Cereal collection. It was a free sample, but I couldn’t resist using the Boo Berry cereal to make donuts. Maybe it was because we ate donuts every day on vacation, or maybe I was just hungry at that moment—either way, donuts were the obvious choice.

One of the easiest shortcuts for homemade donuts is using Pillsbury refrigerated biscuit dough. Even better: Pillsbury makes blueberry biscuit dough. That’s the secret to the quickest, tastiest blueberry donuts you can make without fuss.

Topped with a simple cream cheese frosting and finished with a crunchy sprinkle of Boo Berry cereal, these donuts are a Halloween hit with kids. Let the little ones help by sprinkling the cereal over the frosting for a fun activity and tasty result.

8 servings
Ingredients
- Frying oil (I use vegetable oil)
- 1 package (16.3 oz.) Pillsbury Grands! Blueberry Biscuits
- 4 oz cream cheese room temperature
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 ½ cups General Mills Boo Berry cereal
Instructions
- Pour vegetable oil into a heavy-bottom skillet or Dutch oven to a depth of about 3 inches. Heat over medium-high until oil reaches 350°F (175°C).
- While the oil heats, remove the biscuits from the package and separate them on a cutting board. Use a small biscuit cutter or the top of a milk carton to cut out the center hole; save the centers for donut holes.
- Fry 2–3 donuts at a time for about 1–2 minutes per side, maintaining an oil temperature between 350°F and 380°F. Use a slotted spoon to transfer donuts to a paper towel–lined plate to drain. Finish by frying the donut holes.
- While the donuts cool slightly, prepare the icing. Beat the cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of milk until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and the remaining tablespoon of milk, then beat until creamy and spreadable.
- Spread the cream cheese icing on each donut and immediately sprinkle with Boo Berry cereal so it sticks. Serve right away for best texture and crunch.
